Chaplains are available to assist in training, to provide a liaison with other religious leaders in the community, to assist in public relations as needed, to provide invocations when desired, and to serve as advisor to the Chief and other supervisors in matters pertaining to moral, spiritual, and religious welfare of personnel.

They attend periodic roll-calls, participate in ride-a-longs, and are notified when any Officer in injured, experiences a prolonged illness, or is hospitalized. Chaplains also offer their services to Officers involved in cases of suicide, homicide, death notifications, fatal accidents, major disasters, and any other situation in which the presence of a Chaplain may be requested as well as being called out to assist the police with citizens who have just been through a serious an traumatic incident.

The intent of the Police Chaplain program is to provide an outreach of the church's ministry through volunteers Chaplains whose mission is to address the needs of police officers by providing a listening ear, supportive presence, individual counseling, or effective referral.
