Department History

             In September 2000 the JasCo Metropolitan Police Department began protecting and serving the cities of Alba, Oronogo, Neck City and Purcell, Missouri.  Located in the central part of Jasper County in Southwest Missouri. As of January 2004 the department serves the cites of Oronogo, Alba and Neck City.

             Prior to September 2000 the city of Oronogo had gone through numerous police chiefs and countless police officers.  The city was in question of being able to support a full time police department.  Coming out of a three month retirement, Clif Boyer (Retired Chief-2005) came to the challenge of the task of giving back to the Ozarks, where he was born and raised (in Goodman, MO).  He heard the city’s police department was in dire need of help and contacted the head fathers of the city.  He then took it upon himself to contact the cities in the area due to the high rate of crime they were experiencing.  After three vigorous months of battling politics in  city governments an agreement was signed in July 2000 by all heads of the communities to form the JasCo Metropolitan Police Department.
